SocEnv Annual Awards and Lectures on World Environment Day

Tuesday, 5 June 2018 - 4:00pm to 9:00pm
Arup, 13 Fitzroy Street, London, W1T 4BQ

This year to support World Environment Day The Society of the Environment is hosting a free event for current Chartered Environmentalists (CEnvs) and Registered Environmental Technicians (REnvTech).

World Environment Day celebrates and promotes environmental awareness and sustainability across the globe – a United Nations initiative held annually on the 5th June. The global theme for 2018 is “Plastic Pollution” – a topic that has hit the headlines recently through high profile campaigns, TV series such as Blue Planet II and a strong focus within DEFRA’s 25 Year Environment Plan.

This year's event will include the Society’s annual presentation of the Environmental Professional of the Year Award – recognising the outstanding work of CEnvs and REnvTechs – as well as the award of three new Honorary Fellows of the Society for the Environment (HonFSE). These awards will contribute to an evening of celebrating and showcasing the achievements of those striving to protect and enhance the environment on a daily basis.

Alongside the awards will be a series of HonFSE Lectures, providing expert insight into environmental issues and case studies.

Attend this event to celebrate the work of environmental professionals, network with peers and register to complete your CEnv or REnvTech.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Dougal Driver, Vice Chair of the Society for the Environment
  • Emyr Roberts, first Chief Executive of Natural Resources Wales (NRW)
  • Professor Paul Leinster, Professor of Environmental Assessment at Cranfield University
