Please apply at Tearfund

Tearfund is an international Christian relief and development agency based in Teddington, uk. It currently works in around 50 countries, with a primary focus on supporting those in poverty and providing disaster relief for disadvantaged communities.

The recent surge of interest in tackling plastic waste has created huge opportunities - but also threats - for millions who work as informal waste collectors.  Tearfund is looking for someone with solid policy and research skills to help deliver a ground breaking project in collaboration with the private sector and informal waste sector, to ensure that new plastic collection efforts benefit poorer communities.

The Global Advocacy Team at Tearfund has a dream in which we tackle the three defining issues of our time - ending extreme poverty, living within the earth's limits and tackling inequality.  Our team walks alongside grassroots movements around the globe, supporting them to drive change, and joining them up with our research, media and campaigning work.

We're looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join our policy and research team to help us deliver an exciting project on the informal waste sector.

You will need to be a good team player, well-organised and comfortable working under pressure in order to deliver complex workstreams on time and to a high standard. We're looking for proven research and report writing experience, and the ability to judge and handle sensitive situations well.

You'll be passionate about fighting injustice as part of your faith and be comfortable influencing and inspiring others and engaging with people at senior levels externally. The ideal candidate will be confident in facilitating meetings and in applying their creativity to develop research ideas and solve problems.

All applicants must be committed to Tearfund's Christian beliefs.

Please note: This is a 3 year, part time (3 days per week) fixed term contract. Salary is £36,357 per annum full-time equivalent and £21,814 per annum part-time equivalent.
