Main Purpose of the Post
In collaboration with the Publications Lead, the Publications Officer will be responsible for coordinating the production, delivery and dissemination of key publications and outputs.
You will have strong writing skills and a keen eye for layout and design. Relishing a varied workday and the chance to engage with a wide range of environmental topics, you should be highly organised, motivated and able to fit into the collaborative culture of the office. You will be an individual who takes pride in their work and can deliver projects to tight deadlines.
Job Role

Work with the Publications Lead to originate ideas for the IES journal and other publications.

Support the production and delivery of publications, including developing production schedules and tracking progress; liaising with expert contributors; editing; and coordinating the work of external graphic designers, copyeditors, and printers.

Act as the first point of contact for appropriate experts and contributors.

Review submitted content for adherence to house style requirements and provide feedback to contributors.

Ensure that publications reflect organisational values and adhere to IES brand and editorial guidelines.

Lay out publications using InDesign and produce charts and graphs using Illustrator.

Source appropriate images for print and web use and assist with design direction of publications.

Upload publications to the IES website, creating landing pages and drafting appropriate copy to accompany publications.

Write engaging short-form content for our website, e-newsletter and publications marketing.

Help to develop processes to engage members in suggesting themes and contributing to publications.

Work with other staff to ensure that they are aware of and engaged with upcoming publications and that appropriate links are maintained and built between your work and the organisation’s marketing, policy and events functions.

To undertake any other relevant tasks as specified by the Publications Lead or CEO.

About the Role
This position is full-time. Interviews will take place in early June, with a view to the successful candidate starting as soon as possible.
