Climate change risk management for land projects - new CIRIA guidance
Free
Join this free CIRIA webinar to learn how climate change risk should be assessed and managed in land projects, and to understand how the guidance in CIRIA’s new report, C824: Good practice guide for managing climate change and extreme weather–related impacts on geo-based risks and liabilities for land developments, can help you address these risks. The event will be interesting to anyone in the construction industry. This includes consultants, contractors, designers, clients, and regulators, as well as lenders and investors.
Climate change is affecting everyone, including the development and construction sectors. For example, severe flooding from Storm Babet in October 2023 caused roads and bridges to collapse. There was also a surge in subsidence claim payouts as a result of the record-breaking heatwave of summer 2022. Long-term changes in the climate, including the exacerbation of seasonal variations, also affect existing buildings and infrastructure during operation and maintenance.
This webinar will discuss how the construction industry should assess and manage geotechnical and geoenvironmental risks associated with a changing climate in land projects. It also marks the launch of the first UK guidance on this subject.
