Policy workshop: Transport and industrial noise
Free
The Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES), Institute of Acoustics (IOA), Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and UK Noise Association (UKNA) are working together to develop shared policy priorities and recommendations for noise pollution in England.
This workshop will focus on transport and industrial noise, exploring whether current policy and regulatory approaches are providing an effective framework for managing these sources of noise, and where there may be opportunities to strengthen policy and its implementation.
Ahead of the workshop, participants will be sent a draft policy position paper drawing on existing evidence, research and work from the four partner organisations. The workshop will provide an opportunity for members to give their views on and help shape this emerging position.
There is another policy workshop on neighbour, entertainment & commercial noise taking place a week prior on the 12th November.
This event is free to attend and is open to members of the IES (and EPIC members), IOA, CIEH and UKNA only.
Next steps: Joint noise policy report
Feedback from the session will be used to refine the draft policy position and contribute to a joint set of noise policy priorities and recommendations from IES, IOA, CIEH and UKNA, which will form part of a planned report in early 2027.
This work follows feedback raised at the Neglected Pollutants: 3 year anniversary event, that the sector needs to come together behind a set of shared policy priorities.
We hope that 2027 will be a key year for collaborative working and effective advocacy on noise, and that the joint report will help increase the impact of the Noise Action Week 2027 campaign.
