Health and the Environment Bill

The IES has written to the Secretary of State for Health & Social Care, Matt Hancock, to highlight the opportunities of using the new Environmental Bill to tackle health and wellbeing challenges.

The joint letter, authored with four other professional bodies and SocEnv, highlighted that leading sections of the Bill on air quality, nature, water, and resources and waste reflect four hugely important factors in determining our health and wellbeing. The letter emphasised that seeking "robust targets for air quality and measures to deliver a Nature Recovery Network that could make a significant contribution to improving the mental and physical health of the nation"​.
