We are recruiting members who are Chartered Scientists to join our team of voluntary assessors to support the assessment of our increasing volume of Chartership applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for current IES CSci members to further their involvement with us as a professional body, gain valuable interview experience, demonstrate their seniority, and give back to the sector.

As a Chartership Assessor, you will assess competencies reports, sit on the Professional Review Interview panel for our CSci Accelerated workshops, and conduct interviews for our self-guided candidates. This role will provide you with an opportunity to solidify your understanding of the Chartership process, uphold professional standards across a broad spectrum of environmental science disciplines and expand your knowledge of the innovative work emerging throughout the sector. It also offers a valuable contribution to your Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Commitment and expectations

As an Assessor we ask that you;

• Complete the online 1 hour training course
• Assess a minimum of 3 times per year as part of our interview and workshop days; these can be a mixture of online and physical workshops
• Assess roughly 8 competencies reports per year
• Act as an advocate for Chartership with the IES

To apply, you must be a current IES member who has held CSci registration for at least 18 months. Further information and volunteer agreements will be shared with all interested members on Monday 31st October. Training will be conducted remotely shortly afterwards on a date most suitable for those who have registered interest.
