The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra)’s Air Quality and Industrial Emissions team will discuss the upcoming review of the national Air Quality Strategy. The presentation will discuss Defra’s plans for the Air Quality Strategy and progress to date on policy development with respect to three main areas: 

1. The role of local authorities in meeting the new national PM2.5 targets; 
2. Building local capability to ensure local authorities have the tools to take action;
3. Addressing inequalities and the impacts of air pollution on vulnerable groups. 

There will be an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on early policy proposals. 

Our speakers

Defra’s Air Quality and Industrial Emissions team is responsible for policy and delivery to reduce emissions of air pollution. They also work with departments across government whose policies could potentially impact on air quality.
