Biodiversity Net Gain: Consultation response

In July 2025, the IES and its Environmental Policy Implementation Community (EPIC) teamed up with the Association of Local Government Ecologists (ALGE) to respond to Defra's consultation on improving the implementation of Biodiversity Net Gain for minor, medium and brownfield development.

This was an important consultation response to ensure that protections for nature are maintained, while improving the delivery of this crucial policy. EPIC and ALGE's teamwork produced a leading and impactful response on the subject.
