National Careers Week: Environmental Careers Overview
This webinar was part of a series for National Careers Week, aiming to bring environmental careers to life through real stories and honest insights from professionals working across a wide range of roles and sectors. We kicked the week off with a big-picture introduction to environmental careers and where they could take you.
We were joined for this webinar by Jack Brewin. Jack leads Hays’ Environmental Sustainability recruitment team across the UK. Jack started this team over 4 years ago and has directly supported around 150, and indirectly 300, individuals to find a new role and advance their career within the sector. He directly manages 3 others and has developed them from graduates into successful recruitment consultants. He has hosted and spoken at various careers events to offer practical advice to students, graduates, and career-changers for a range of professional and educational organisations.
Jack shared insights into the following areas:
- An introduction to the wide range of career paths across the environmental sector, including growing and emerging opportunities for graduates.
- An overview of the skills, experience and qualifications employers are really looking for - from technical expertise to valuable transferable skills.
- Practical, actionable next steps such as internships, further study options and support that you can receive from the IES to confidently begin building your career.
