Digital EIA: A case study on a major infrastructure project
This webinar, organised by the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Community, presented a case study of a digital EIA approach, demonstrating how environmental information can be managed as a connected asset rather than simply as static reports. The speakers, Henry Johnston (Binnies UK) and Tina Znidarsic (Arup), explored the evolution from spreadsheet-based processes to a bespoke Impact Assessment Database and showed how digitising impact assessment information can improve consistency, accessibility, transparency, and collaboration across EIA project teams.
The presentation highlighted the insights and outputs that can be generated from structured EIA data, including reporting, dashboards, metrics, and web-based applications. The speakers also reflected on the benefits and challenges of implementing a digital EIA approach and considered future opportunities, including enhanced reporting, data integration, automation, and the creation of more dynamic and accessible environmental information systems.
