AEnvCoW wins International Green Apple Award for environmental guidance

The Association of Environmental Clerks of Works (AEnvCoW) has been named a winner in the International Green Apple Environment Awards 2026 for its work on Environmental Clerks of Works: Industry Guiding Principles for Developments. Published in February 2026, the guidance was developed by AEnvCoW and published in collaboration with the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP). It was created to improve consistency, clarity, and professional practice in environmental compliance monitoring across development and construction projects.

Selected from more than 700 entries worldwide, AEnvCoW will receive its award at a ceremony at the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster in London, on 23rd November 2026. Whether the Association has received the Green Champion, Gold, Silver or Bronze award will be revealed on the day.

The guidance sets out core principles for effective environmental compliance monitoring, including independence, transparency, clear responsibilities, governance, and reporting. It also aims to strengthen understanding of the Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) role and how EnvCoWs should be appropriately appointed and integrated into project teams.

EnvCoWs are independent environmental or construction professionals responsible for monitoring and reporting on compliance with planning consents, environmental permits, legislation and mitigation.

The guidance was developed by AEnvCoW and published in collaboration with ISEP, bringing together specialist EnvCoW knowledge with wider environmental and sustainability expertise. The International Green Apple Environment Awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit organisation founded in 1994 to recognise, reward and promote environmental excellence worldwide.
