Build Back Better: Letter from UKSSD
Relatively early into the COVID-19 pandemic, many organisations began calling on the Government to ensure that the eventual recovery from COVID was a green one.
The main message was to "Build Back Better", an idea taken from development policy which argues that rebuilding after a disaster should be used as an opportunity to create something more positive than what was lost. In the context of COVID, the argument for a transformative approach to rebuilding the economy was a strong one.
As the IES strongly supported transformative change and a green recovery from COVID-19, we also signed this letter from the UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD), which has since ceased to operate as an organisation (it was merged into the UK's Global Compact Network).
