Edge statement on built environment education (supported by IES)

Cover of Edge Education statement

Early in 2024, the IES attended a meeting of industry, academics, and professional bodies working in the built environment, hosted by The Edge. We discussed the role that education can play in supporting more sustainable outcomes across the built environment.

Given the wide range of interests in the built environment sector, we pushed for an evidence-based approach to sustainable development, emphasising that it need not come at the expense of economic or social outcomes. That message was well-received in the room, with a strong consensus that more needed to be done to address the urgency of the climate crisis.

As one outcome of the roundtable, this statement on education for change was published, signed by the organisations involved, including the IES.
