Environmental Improvement Plan 2023: Specialism-specific insights
In January 2023, the UK Government published its Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP) as the first update to its 25 Year Environment Plan. The Plan covered 10 high-level goals, most of which interact directly or indirectly with natural systems, environmental outcomes, and other policy mechanisms with the potential for significant co-benefits.
This briefing was produced to outline the broad implications of the EIP for each field of environmental science, as well as the policy decisions that IES members could reasonably expect to be influencing their work as a result.
Since it was published, a new Environmental Improvement Plan has been created, so the content of this briefing is no longer up-to-date.
For the latest insights on what the EIP and other policy means for environmental science, see our regularly updated horizon scanning briefings below, or check out Essential Environment.
