Land Use Consultation

A Land Use Framework for England has been long sought after. In early 2025, Defra finally published a Land Use Consultation with a view of how the Framework would be produced. The consultation was a key point of input for developing the Framework.

Given the importance of the Framework, the IES responded to the consultation. We produced our response with the help of a focus group including environmental scientists, farmers, economists, and students, coming together across specialisms. We also teamed up with IES Communities including the Foundation for Water Research (FWR) and Environmental Policy Implementation Community (EPIC).
