IES calls on new UK Prime Minister to support sustainable wellbeing

In 2024, the IES brought together hundreds of professionals from across the environmental sciences. We held seven discussion events, asking experts to identify the most pressing priorities for UK environmental policy across a range of topics.

The outcome of those discussions was 'Our Shared Mission for Sustainable Wellbeing', a report setting out our message to government.

On the day that we launched the report, we also wrote to the Prime Minister, urging him to take up this vital mission so that we can create a country with thriving people, a healthy economy, and a flourishing environment. The Prime Minister acknowledged the letter and the report, but has not yet acted to deliver on the strong public consensus for ambitious environmental action.

Following the letter, we have continued to engage with policy makers and other organisations to carry forward the important priorities set out by our expert members.
