Land Condition Community

Working on the ground to improve envrionmental and human health

Protecting human and environmental health

The Land Condition Community connects members to share expertise, shape resources, and drive standards across the sector. Its Early Careers Network supports those starting out with mentoring, learning, and peer connection.

The Community leads the annual Land Condition Symposium, runs webinars and discussions, develops professional guidance, and contributes to policy and consultation responses.

Through collaboration with partners like SiLC, the National Brownfield Forum, and BSI, the Community champions best practice and strong professional standards in the sector. The National Contaminated Land Officers Group (NCLOG) is also part of the IES family, providing a home for land contamination professionals working in local authorities across the country.

Why you should join the Land Condition Community

All members involved or interested in Land Condition can join the Community, with its membership spanning consultancy, industry, local authorities, regulators and academia. Those at the start of their career are encouraged to join the Community and its Early Careers Network.

The work of the Community is led by a dedicated Steering Group, and the wider Community meets twice a year for discussion, giving members a chance to feed in their views on Community work. The Early Careers Network is also led by a Subcommittee of early career professionals.

Collaboration underpins the work that the IES does on Land Condition. Through our Land Condition Community, NCLOG, and strong external representation, we bring together different expertise and perspectives to support the delivery of a unified voice on land condition challenges and shared solutions that work across stakeholders.
