Dr Claire Holman

Claire is currently the Chair of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM), a Fellow of both IAQM and IES, and a Chartered Environmentalist and Chartered Scientist. She has worked extensively on air quality management for the past 30 years, mainly as a consultant.  She has provided technical and policy advice to national and local Governments, the European Commission, industry and non-governmental organisations, and is an experienced expert witness at planning inquires and for litigation cases. Claire holds a BSc in Molecular Science and a PhD in air pollution research. She worked at Edinburgh and Birmingham Universities in research posts, was a Commissioner for a Sustainable London 2012 and was on the South West Regional Environmental Protection Advisory Committee of the Environment Agency. She was also an advisor to the Department for Transport’s Clean Vehicles and Fuels research programme.

Claire is keen that the relationship between IAQM and IES is not only maintained but strengthened in the coming years, believing that both organisations benefit from working closely together. She was elected to the IES Council in 2016.
