This year, the Society for the Environment awarded Adam Donnan, IES CEO, an Honorary Fellowship (HonFSE). Following the presentation, they invited him to deliver an Honorary Fellow Lecture – a prestigious opportunity to share his knowledge and experience, and inspire those watching.
Adam will be discussing how environmental science has contributed towards sustainability and how systems-level and interdisciplinary approaches are essential for solving environmental challenges. He will be reflecting on the role of professional bodies in accelerating the transition to a sustainable society.
The event is free to attend and open to all.

Adam Donnan CEnv has worked at the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) since 2006, becoming their CEO in 2013. He recently completed a three-year term as Chair of the Science Council, and past roles include Chairing the Technical Pathways Programme Board and being a Non-Executive Director of Change Agents UK.
Adam has been well-recognised externally, winning numerous awards for his environmental and sustainability work, notably as Young Leader of the Year 2014, Association Awards UK, and being recognised on The ENDS Report Power List of the 100 most influential UK environmental professionals in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
Dougal Driver CEnv, Chair of the Society for the Environment Board, will chair the lecture.
