The 2018 Royal Society Photography Competition

Following on from last year's success, the Royal Society's annual photography competition is back for 2018.

The competition is split into five categories, including a category for ecology and environmental science photos, and celebrates the power of photography to communicate science. Whether you are an ace astronomy photographer or you like to focus your lens on land, perhaps you prefer to spend your time documenting behavior in the wild or like getting up close and personal with the microscopic world, this is the chance for you to show your photography skills.

The top prize this year is £500, with four more prizes of £250 to be awarded for the winners of each other category. The final shortlist, selected by the judges, will also be displayed in an online exhibition. To kick things off, why not browse the gallery from last year?

The closing date for the 2018 competition is 31st August so get out there and get snapping!
