The Big SuDS Survey

IES is pleased to be partnering with CIWEM, ICE, RIBA, the Landscape Institute, RTPI, WWT and Susdrain in collecting data to assist the Government in its review of sustainable drainage in England.

We know that there is a great deal of experience in this area within the profession, but there is currently a lack of data on implementation. We hope that in this survey we can collect some objective data and practical examples of SuDS implementation, by engaging with professionals from across the flooding, development, planning, design and drainage communities, and we are sure that environmental scientists will have experiences to share.

If you work, or have experience in this area, please help us to collect this data by filling in the survey today.

We are aiming to establish if the Government’s current approach to SuDS delivery is effective and identify any barriers to its success. We also hope to highlight areas of good practice and recognise what we can learn from the approaches in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The questions centre around drivers and barriers on the uptake of SuDS, planning, quality, evaluating costs and benefits, SuDS standards and skills. The survey also allows you to provide your own case studies and examples.

The survey will close at the end of July.
