In recent years, the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) has embraced a flexible approach to working, hiring staff on remote, hybrid, and office-based contracts. As a result, our team has become increasingly geographically dispersed, with the majority of our staff now based outside of London. This evolution, combined with the underutilisation of our Shoreditch office, led the IES Council and staff to review our working arrangements.
Following careful consideration, we have made the strategic decision to move to a fully remote working model. This change supports our commitment to environmental sustainability - helping to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions - and will generate cost savings that can be reinvested into our charitable activities.
Our new registered office address is:
Institution of Environmental Sciences
c/o The Association for Laboratory Medicine
130-132 Tooley Street
London
SE1 2TU
We will maintain a presence at the Association for Laboratory Medicine, close to London Bridge station, where staff can meet in person and collect post. However, we encourage our members and partners to contact us via email wherever possible to support efficient communication and reduce environmental impact.
We also have an ongoing agreement with the City of London Corporation, allowing us continued access to high-quality office and event space. This ensures we can continue to deliver in-person training, roundtables, and meetings without disruption.
This move marks an exciting new chapter for the IES, one that reflects our values, supports our staff team, and enables us to operate more sustainably and efficiently.
