South West Regional Group Event: Fracking Seminar

Wednesday, 8 October 2014 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Frenchay Campus, UWE, Bristol

With the announcement of the 14th round of licences at the end of July 2014, just over half of the UK is now potentially available for exploration. What does this mean for the management of our environmental resources, in particular water and air?

This seminar will uncover What we know about fracking and what we don’t know.

  • What are the UK's demonstrable shale gas reserves and are they significant for our energy security?
  • Are current regulatory agencies well equipped to regulate this new industry?
  • What are the implications for water management?
  • What are the implications for air quality and carbon management?

Speakers:

  1. Dr Mark Broomfield (Ricardo-AEA) – Managing the environmental risks of fracking
  2. Jenna Brown (UWE) – Shale gas reserves, regulation and water demand.
  3. Dr Enda Hayes (UWE) – Implications of shale gas exploration for air quality and carbon management.

Parking: Free – please use car parks 2 & 3. Directions will be sent upon registration.

Entry is free. To register, please contact: Emma Fell
