SLR provides multidisciplinary advice from in-house experts on a wide range of strategic and site specific environmental and sustainability issues. In particular, we specialise in providing advice to both public and private sector clients and have a broad base of customers in the built environment, industry, infrastructure, mining and minerals, oil and gas and power sectors.

SLRs European Air Quality Team has an established presence in several offices, and due to an increasing workload we are looking for individuals to join existing members of the air quality team. The role will be based in the SLR Bradford on Avon office (with the potential to be based in Bristol for the right applicant), located within easy commute of both Bath and Bristol, where over 50 professionals are based offering a wide range of consultancy services.

Main Duties:

As an air quality specialist, you will be required to promote the SLR air quality team in the marketplace, to help facilitate further growth and play a direct role in the delivery of a diverse range of projects. This will include ambient air quality, dust and odour monitoring, detailed dispersion modelling and assessment of transport and industrial air quality, odour assessments, input into EIAs and Environmental Permit applications and for projects in the UK and abroad.

You will be expected to become involved in all aspects of project delivery from client liaison and task / project management, to site monitoring, report production and business development. A high level of technical competence is required with practical experience in air quality monitoring and dispersion modelling software desirable. Additional training on the use of dispersion modelling software and monitoring techniques would be provided. 

Additionally SLR offer a range of occupational exposure monitoring services through the Air Quality Team and relevant experience and qualifications in Occupational Hygiene to support the development of this service line would be highly advantageous.

Person Specification

Technical Skills, Abilities, Experience:

  • Detailed dispersion modeling (Breeze / Lakes AERMOD and / or ADMS), and assessment of road traffic pollution (DMRB and ADMS Roads).
  • Familiar with ambient air quality, dust and odour monitoring techniques.
  • Experience with occupation exposure monitoring techniques desirable. 

Education, Qualifications, Memberships:

  • A degree in a relevant (scientific) discipline is required.
  • You are likely to be a member of the IAQM, IEnvSc or similar.
  • BOSH/NEBOSH etc. qualification and Membership advantageous.

  • A team player.

Additional Requirements:

  • A full driving licence is required.
