BWB Consulting has an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to join our London office in an Air Quality Regional Lead role. 

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with a desire to establish their own team within our London office.  Excellent business development skills, commercial understanding and an established client network are integral to the role.

Sitting within our national Air Quality team, the successful applicant would be expected to establish a new air quality team within our London office.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a clear work winning track record, an established client network, business planning, key account management and financial management skills.

In addition, the successful candidate would be expected to undertake specialist technical work such as air and odour dispersion modelling, air quality/odour/dust monitoring and report writing whilst working as part of a growing, integrated, progressive team. There is the opportunity to work on projects from proposal stage right through to completion, and to undertake Project Management and Financial Management.  In addition, the successful application would have the opportunity to lead the technical delivery of the regional team, overseeing training and technical excellence, line managing junior team members and implementing efficiencies to aid technical delivery. 

Our work is varied and widespread supporting our clients on projects both locally and throughout the UK as required.  This is a fast paced, Client facing role in which you would have the opportunity to grow your regional team. We value innovation and encourage thinking ‘outside of the box’, while always seeking to provide commercial solutions to complex environmental issues. Good financial and project management skills are a must as are great communication skills to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships both internally and externally to BWB.

The Air Quality team are a rapidly expanding part of BWB’s environmental service offering, with involvement at all stages in the planning cycle from feasibility through to master planning, planning application support and the discharge of planning conditions. We also provide strategic advice and asset management services, and offer clever solutions to some challenging issues. We are also growing our capability to offer air quality monitoring, odour assessments and Environmental Permitting consultancy services.

About you

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, confident, self-motivated and willing to take the initiative, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Willingness to travel and a full driving license are essential to the role.

The successful candidate will have a relevant air quality or environmental sciences degree or equivalent and be a full member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences, Institute of Air Quality Management and a Chartered Environmentalist or Chartered Scientist.  An appropriate Masters degree is also desirable.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate at least eight to ten years of relevant consultancy based work experience.  A good understanding and experience of the following areas of work is required:

  • A proven track record in business development and client relationship management, with a demonstratable client network;
  • Training teams and mentoring;
  • Demonstrate technical excellence;
  • The air quality assessment process as well as the standards and guidelines that are appropriate to our industry;
  • The UK planning and Environmental Permitting systems;
  • Air dispersion modelling software including the ADMS-Roads and ADMS 5 software packages and experience in using ArcGIS, QGIS and AutoCAD;
  • Onsite air quality and odour monitoring experience including odour sniff testing, diffusion tube monitoring and continuous analyser monitoring together with the design and management of air quality and odour monitoring strategies;
  • Proven odour acuity within the required odour panellist range;
  • BREEAM and indoor air quality assessment and monitoring experience;
  • Working with design teams, project managers and clients;
  • Project management; and
  • Willingness to travel and a full driving licence are essential to the role.
