The Science Council is the membership organisation for professional bodies and learned societies in science and we champion and uphold standards across our profession through professional registration of scientists and technicians. Over the last few years the Science Council has established itself as a leading voice for the professional practice of science, independent of discipline. To help us continue this work, we now seek a new Chief Executive who will need exceptional strategic, interpersonal and ambassadorial skills to operate effectively in this wide ranging, changing and complex environment.

As our new Chief Executive, you join us at an incredibly important and exciting time in our development. You will develop and deliver our new strategy which reiterates our purpose and draws on key themes relating to Community and Membership, Registers and Licensing, and Policy and Influence. This is a complex and challenging role and as such we are looking for an outstanding candidate who brings a comprehensive range of skills and experience.

You will be resilient and energetic, able to demonstrate a track record of delivering strategic plans  within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. You will possess sophisticated communication skills, effective stakeholder engagement and partnership development experience to effectively navigate our internal and external environment and be able to balance competing views.  Our impact on science and skills is vital, thus you will need to be credible and effective in an ambassadorial role, influencing policy in partnership with our Member Bodies.

This will be an exciting time for the successful applicant to join the organisation as our new Chief Executive, playing a key role in helping us shape the future of the Science Council and its members.
