Send a CV and cover letter to the Society’s CEO Emma Wilcox

The Society of the Environment is the custodian of the Chartered Environmentalist and Registered Environmental Technician registers. Since 1999, the Society has established a sound platform as the body tasked with championing and registering the expertise of professional environmentalists. Under its Royal Charter and working in partnership with over 20 Licenced Bodies, the Society ensures the quality, relevance and awareness of its qualifications as well as facilitating its partners to work together.

Since its inception and award of the Royal Charter in 2004 the Society has registered over 8,000 Chartered Environmentalists (CEnv). The Society has also recognised the exceptional contributions of leading individuals by awarding them Honorary Fellowships. More recently, responding to the importance of technicians to the environment and the economy the Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) register was also launched in 2014. Being a Registered Environmental Technician demonstrates that a person has the professional knowledge, experience and commitment to apply sustainable thinking through their daily working life, and for many may be (but does not have to be) a step on the ladder to eventual full Chartered status.

As the Society moves ahead into 2016 we will to continue to build awareness and recognition of the CEnv and REnvTech registers across employers, individuals and key stakeholders - speaking as an authoritative voice on the environmental profession. Work will continue to facilitate registered environmentalists across different disciplines coming together to collaborate, learn from each other and to provide collective expert input.

The Society has created this new role effectively at an executive director level to lead its Licensing, Registration and Standards Activities. Reporting to the CEO you will ensure our Standards are maintained and continuously improved through an effective peer review programme.
