Main Purpose of the Post
The Research Project Manager is responsible for managing the IES's diversity initiative: “Understanding barriers to career advancement in the environmental sector for individuals from ethnic minorities”. Working closely with the Programme Lead, you will be responsible for the creation, organisation, hosting and delivery of quantitative and qualitative research. The project includes surveys, (remotely-)hosted interviews and roundtable discussions, plus other research techniques appropriate for the aims of the project.
You will be analytically minded with exemplary ability to transform statistics into narrative for a wide range of audiences. You will be confident in your ability to manage projects and cover all bases whilst balancing the needs of the IES and its Corporate Partnerships invested in this project. You will be personable, sensitive and empathetic, driven and committed to seeing improvement in accessibility, inclusivity, diversity and equity.
Job Role
Research project
- Work with the Programme Lead and the Corporate Partners to carry out the scope of works in line with the objectives
- Devise and design custom qualitative and quantitative market research methods, incorporating reasonable requests from Corporate Partners and invested stakeholders
- Conduct all stages of the primary data collection, including the design and distribution of the survey to appropriate audiences, management of participant recruitment, management of the operations and logistics of hosted interviews and roundtable discussions
- Analyse and interpret primary data, prepare reports, illustrating data graphically and translating complex findings to convey key themes and present results to key stakeholders and funders
- Amalgamate all findings in conjunction with the Programme Lead to generate a final report for wide publication
- Support on dissemination of findings to relevant channels and networks
- Support on the delivery of a launch event to present these findings

- Support on seeking additional funding for Phase 2 (currently outside of this role's fixed-term, pending funding)
- Ad hoc office tasks as determined by the Programme Lead

About the Role
The position is part-time (25hr/week), fixed term for 32 weeks. Salary is £29,100 (pro rata). Most, if not all, of this position can be done remotely.
Contract start date: 29th March 2021 (or as soon as possible)
Contract end date: 29th October 2021
Interviews will take place on the Thursday 25th February 2021, with a view to the successful candidate starting as soon as possible.
