AECOM are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Air Quality Consultant to work within an established UK team.

Our team of air quality specialists deliver a range of exciting and varied projects across Europe, Middle East and Africa region. We work in multi-disciplinary teams delivering solutions to a broad base of client sectors including development, energy, oil and gas, water, government and transportation. The team now numbers over 30 full-time air quality specialists in the UK with over 500 practitioners worldwide.

This post offers excellent career opportunities in a large, friendly and well established team supporting one of the world's largest integrated engineering, construction and technical services organisations. There are opportunities to support our clients not only through EIA and planning related services but through the full spectrum of project life services including due diligence, occupational exposure assessments, risk management, emissions monitoring and the drafting of good practice guidance.

Duties will include undertaking air quality impact assessments, dispersion modelling, ambient and workplace monitoring and business development activities as well as coordinating and managing their individual workload.  It would also be beneficial to demonstrate experience of taking responsibility for the quality of work prepared by colleagues or the site safety of less experienced colleagues.  

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a large team, to manage and plan their workload efficiently, and be flexible and willing to undertake out of hours work or to be away from home on occasion. They will be well-organized and detail oriented, and have good communication and report writing skills.  We would also expect proficiency in personal computer applications, to include Microsoft Word and Excel, with skills in PowerPoint, Access and GIS.  Additional experience should include the measurement of emissions or air pollutant concentrations or the preparation of management plans. Experience of specialist air quality emissions inventory or dispersion modelling software including (but not limited to) AERMOD, ADMS, CHARM, ADMS-STAR, would be advantageous.  

Training will be provided internally and there would be also be opportunities for external training towards a recognised qualification.

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role we're looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate a detailed understanding and knowledge of the air quality outlook. You will have previous work experience in a similar role and be enthusiastic with excellent report writing skills. 

As well as the above we are also looking for the following:

  • Ability to work well in a team, be practical and take responsibility for undertaking individual work.
  • Demonstrate GIS, modelling or programming skills.
  • Experience with air quality software and digital tools
  • Full, clean driving licence 
  • Degree level in a numerical science, and ideally a postgraduate qualification 
  • Full membership of a relevant professional body or certificate of successful completion of professional training, such as MIAQM, BOHS, STA, MCERTS would also be of interest as evidence of relevant experience.
