The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Air Quality Officer to join our Supporting Communities directorate.  You will act as the lead advisor on air quality and ensure Camden fulfils its obligations as a designated Air Quality Management Area. This role is instrumental to developing, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the borough’s Clean Air Action Plan. You will be required to work innovatively, delivering other key elements of the borough-wide sustainability plan as required and lead project teams, directly supervising and motivating staff.

About You

To be considered for this post, you must demonstrate excellent knowledge and understanding of air quality and environmental sustainability issues, including relevant legislation, policy and best practice, in particular the Government’s Air Quality Strategy, the Mayor of London’s Air Quality Strategy and the Local Air Quality Management Regime. The post holder will have experience of effectively managing programmes and contracts with particular focus on integrating equality and diversity principles in service delivery.

The successful candidate will ideally have a relevant degree or professional qualification. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information accurately and concisely to a wide range of stakeholders. You will be able to establish leading multi-agency partnerships, work closely with elected members and lead public meetings. You will develop and implement evidence-based strategies, provide in-depth policy analysis and advice in contested situations, as well as managing conflicting priorities and meeting frequently changing deadlines.
