NCLOG AGM & Conference

The National Contaminated Land Officers group (NCLOG) will be holding their AGM and Conference on the 21st May. This half day event will contain presentations from the NCLOG Committee on NCLOG activities, as well as the opportunity to hear from expert speakers and engage in dialogue on topical issues at the center of contaminated land.

This event is free to attend and only for NCLOG members.

Speakers

Adam Donnan, Chief Executive, The Institution of Environmental Sciences

Adam has worked for the IES in various roles since 2006. In 2013 he was made the organisation's first CEO. Past non-executive roles include chairing the Science Council from 2021-2024, and acting as a trustee for the organisation from 2017-2014. He chaired the Technical Pathways Programme Board from 2020-2024, which oversaw a project to engage the science community with technical education. Adam was Vice President of the European Network of Environmental Professionals (ENEP) (2013-16), director of SiLC, and a non-Executive Director of Change Agents UK (2011-16). Past employment roles include a secondment as Interim CEO of the Society for the Environment (2014-15). He was the 2014 Young Leader of the Year at the Association Awards UK and named in the ENDS Powerlist of the top 100 environmental professionals in 2022 and 2023. He holds an MBA, a BA History and is a Chartered Environmentalist.

 

Rae Watney, Contaminated Land Officer, Sheffield City Council

Rae has been a Local Authority Officer specialising in Contaminated Land for the last 5 years, and prior to that worked in Contaminated Land consultancy. She is active in local and national officer groups for NCLOG and YALPAG, and was a member of the working group for the NCLOG guidance on simple cover systems. In 2021, she won Best Young Brownfield Professional at the Brownfield Briefing awards.

 

 

Sarah Hamill, Contaminated Land Officer, West Dunbartonshire Council

Sarah was appointed as the Contaminated Land Officer for West Dunbartonshire Council in 2006. During this time Sarah has managed to progress the Council’s Contaminated Land Strategy through the investigation of a number of potential Part IIA sites and has subsequently overseen the successful remediation of a number of these. More recently Sarah’s main duties have been in relation to many of the large scale regeneration projects within the authority including the EXXON Bowling Site, the Former Carless Oil Refinery, and the Queens Quay regeneration project in Clydebank. Sarah is a Full member of IES and is also a member of the Society for Environment Soils & Stones Executive Committee. Sarah also currently represents the Central/West Authorities on CLAG (Contaminated Land Advisory Group).
