Antarctica is pivotal to the global climate system. ​This event series, hosted by the Environmental Hub, will explore key themes of environmental protection, wildlife and climate change in Antarctica.

Held over three days, this Event Series will comprise the following events:

  • Tuesday 10th June 2025, 6.30pm-9pm - Evening Reception Launch Event
  • Wednesday 11th June 2025, 9.00am-4.30pm - Discover Antarctica Training
  • Thursday 12th June 2025, 9.00am-5.30pm - Antarctic Environmental Impact Assessment Training

Evening Reception Launch Event (Tuesday 10th June 2025, 6.30pm-9pm)

Held at the Environmental Hub, 1 Duchess Street, City of Westminster, London W1W 6AN

This evening reception will launch the Antarctic Event Series, the inaugural event from the Environmental Hub. The event will bring together the Antarctic and wider environmental community, including the friends of the Environmental Hub and attendees of the training events. There will be an audio visual element with short videos of Antarctica. It will be accompanied by an art and photography exhibition about Antarctica. Welcome drinks and canapes will be served. Limited tickets available.


Discover Antarctica Training (Wednesday 11th June 2025, 9.00am-4.30pm)

A rare opportunity to gain an understanding or enhance your knowledge about the Antarctic environment, delivered by experts in their field.

Discover Antarctica Training provides a one-day training course for those wishing to gain an understanding or enhance their knowledge about the environmental protection, wildlife and climate change in Antarctica with up to date and current information. It is open to all and does not require any prior qualifications or Antarctic experience.

Course Content

  • Environmental protection in Antarctica and the Antarctic Treaty
  • Wildlife in Antarctica and the threats it faces
  • Climate change and its impact on Antarctica
  • Natural environment and life in the extreme
  • In the process of achieving endorsement by the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES)

Antarctic Environmental Impact Assessment Training (Thursday 12th June 2025, 9.00am-5.30pm)

£500 in-person, £400 online (prices exclude VAT) - early bird discount of 10% before 12th May
Held at the Environmental Hub in central London, W1W 6AN and remote attendance options

Antarctic Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Training provides a one-day training course for those wishing to enhance their knowledge of the EIA process and methodology with best practice, case studies and up to date information, with a particular focus on cumulative impact assessment. The Training will cover Preliminary Environmental Evaluation (PEE) and Initial Environmental Evaluation (IEE) in accordance with the Antarctic Protocol. ​The course is for those with a professional interest in Environmental Impact Assessment in Antarctica.
