Roger Barrowcliffe

Roger Barrowcliffe has worked in the field of air quality for over 20 years, firstly with the (then) Central Electricity Generating Board and subsequently with Environmental Resources Management in the period 1989-2010. More recently, he worked at RWDI before establishing himself as an independent consultant, operating as Clear Air Thinking Ltd. Much of his work is for industrial clients, but he also carries out technical policy studies for clients such as Defra and has, in the past, worked on international development projects in China and the Middle East. Within air quality management, his experience encompasses dispersion modelling, ambient air quality monitoring and the assessment of health effects. His interest in the latter topic also led Roger to establish an HIA practice at ERM and he has maintained his activity in this field in the meantime.

Roger is also a Chartered Meteorologist through the Royal Meteorological Society and a Chartered Scientist through IES.

In 2012 Roger Barrowcliffe was elected Chair of IAQM, serving until 2015 when he bgan Vice Chair. He sat on the IES Council from 2013-16.
