Shaping our environmental future
Education for the Environment
Environmental education professionals are responsible for designing, delivering and directing educational programs that aim to raise awareness and understanding of environmental issues.
Within the IES, environmental education professionals work to improve outcomes for Higher and Further Education institutions delivering environmental science programmes. By providing representation and leadership for environmental education, they facilitate connections among members and create new opportunities for international cooperation within the environmental science community.
Leading environmental education
We are home to the Community of Environmental Disciplines in Higher Education (CEDHE), an organisation for environmental education professionals. CEDHE plays a pivotal role in the Higher and Further Education environmental science communities, advocating for member interests on the international stage. The community strives to inspire individuals to pursue careers in the environmental field while supporting students and academics engaged in environmental studies.
CEDHE offers a professional accreditation scheme for Honours and Masters programmes in Higher and Further Education institutions and maintains close working relationships with member universities. All academic staff within the environment department can become part of the CEDHE network, whether they are involved in teaching, learning or research.
