IES Webinar: Using geospatial data to end the global sanitation crisis

Every year the global sanitation crisis results in increased healthcare costs, decreased income and reduced productivity totalling more than US$200 billion. Out of 152 countries in the world, Madagascar ranks 149th for sanitation provision.

Gather’s mission is to close the sanitation data gap, so that decision makers know how and where to improve sanitation infrastructure and services.

In this webinar, John Peter Archer, co-founder of Gather introduces the sanitation data gap and explores its impact on achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal 6 for sanitation and on improving sanitation in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. John Peter shares Gather’s recent successes, challenges and lessons in collaborating with municipal, private and non-profit sanitation organisations to standardise how data is collected, shared and analysed to improve sanitation for 370,000 people.
