Webinar: How much energy is used to deliver and listen to radio

Have you ever considered the impact your listening habits may have on the environment? Do your decisions as a consumer, such as listening to radio on an FM or DAB receiver, a TV or a smart speaker, have an effect on national energy use? Should emissions reduction efforts focus on individual devices or the transmitters which distribute radio content? The BBC have been exploring these questions and more with a view to improve the environmental impact of their radio and television services.

In this webinar, Chloe Fletcher a Sustainability Data Scientist from the BBC Research & Development and former Operations and Business Development Lead at the IES, presents the results from a recently published paper exploring the energy footprint of BBC radio, both now and how this may change in the future.
