Waste and Resources Management
Building a circular future
Accelerating to a circular economy
Resources and waste management professionals, and those working to advance the circular economy, are key to meeting goals of maximising resources and minimising waste.
These professionals facilitate design for the recovery of materials, their collection, reuse, remanufacture and treatment, as well as the disposal of unavoidable waste materials in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner. This includes promotion of a truly circular economy and anything that facilitates this, including reducing waste generation, promoting reuse, recycling and resource recovery, and managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams. Their work involves implementing strategies to minimise environmental impacts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable practices to protect public health and the environment.
Resources and waste professionals in the IES
Being part of the IES provides an opportunity for resource and waste professionals to connect with environmental professionals across disciplines, providing myriad opportunities for interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and development of systems-led solutions. Resource, circular economy and waste management professionals interact with several of our communities, including our Land Condition Community and Marine & Coastal Community.
